Motivating Yourself To Make It Through the Day
Create a positive mindset and remind yourself of your abilities
We’ve all had those days when the weight of the world feels like it’s on our shoulders and all we want to do is crawl back into bed. It can be difficult to find motivation to keep going whether you’re suffering from the Monday blues or dealing with a particularly unpleasant scenario.
But there are things to help yourself get through those difficult days. In this article, I will share some strategies for staying motivated throughout the day. These benefited me in making changes.
Start Your Day Off Right
One of the best ways to set yourself up for success is to start your day off on the right foot. This means taking the time to do things that make you feel good, such as:
- Eating a healthy breakfast
- Exercise or taking a walk outside
- Meditating or doing yoga
- Reading something uplifting or inspiring
By starting your day with activities that make you feel good, you can set the tone for the rest of the day and give yourself a boost of energy and motivation.
Just Get Moving
Get up and get moving is a fantastic technique to increase motivation. Endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals, are released when you exercise, and they can assist to elevate your mood and give you more energy. Even something as easy as taking a short walk around the block or stretching for a few minutes can have a significant impact.
When I’m feeling down and demotivated, I like to put some music on and move my body, whether it’s dancing, going for a run or doing some calisthenics. This helps me to clear my head, get my blood flowing and make me feel better.
Set Small, Achievable Goals
When you lack motivation, it’s simple to become overwhelmed, but one approach to avoid this is to set modest, manageable goals for yourself. These objectives could be as basic as:
- Completing one task on your to-do list
- Making a phone call you’ve been putting off
- Spending 15 minutes working on a personal project.
The key is to set a goal that is small enough that you feel confident you can achieve it, but still challenging enough to help you push through the tough times.
Give Yourself a Break
It’s critical to keep in mind that it’s acceptable to take a break when you’re not feeling inspired. Sometimes all it takes to help you recharge and refocus is a short period of rest and relaxation.
I enjoy taking a quick pause, maybe making a cup of tea or coffee, and taking a few slow, deep breathes when I’m feeling unmotivated. This provides me a chance to collect my thoughts and return to the task from a different angle.
Surround Yourself with Positive People
The people we surround ourselves with can have a big impact on our motivation levels. Surrounding yourself with positive, supportive people can help to lift your spirits and give you the energy and motivation you need to keep going.
I always make sure to spend time with people who make me feel good, whether it’s my friends, family or my team. They are always a source of inspiration and support when I need it.
Conclusion
Making it through a tough day can be a challenge, but it’s not impossible. By starting your day off right, getting moving, setting small, achievable goals, giving yourself a break and surrounding yourself with positive people, you can give yourself the boost of motivation you need to push through and make it to the end of the day.
It’s important to remember that everyone has tough days, and it’s okay to not be motivated all the time. The key is to have strategies in place to help you through those tough times and to remind yourself that you have the power to change your mood and perspective.
Additionally, it’s good to have a positive mindset and remind yourself that every day is a new day and a fresh start. And, even if you don’t achieve all that you set out to do, it’s important to give yourself credit for the things you did accomplish and focus on the progress you made.
In short, with a little bit of self-care and a lot of self-motivation, you can power through any day and come out on the other side feeling accomplished and proud.
