How Much I have Earned On YouTube — First Week Of Monetization
Just got monetized and looking forward to growing.
I have been doing YouTube for about 10 years now and never really took it 100% serious. What I mean is that I have only been using my channels as a way to do affiliate marketing. A little success has come my way, but not much to write home about.
Introduction
After watching hundreds of videos daily (that is how I learn to most everything) I stumbled across these videos about “Cash Cow” channels. After a ton of researching, I found out they sounded interesting to me. Basically because of the headlines claiming some channels were making $10,000 or more each month in ad revenue.
Sounded to me like click bait, but I decided to try it seriously due to the fact that you don’t have to show your face on video. This is where the faceless YouTube channel name comes in. OK, here we go.
Getting Started
I decided to use the facts niche. Making videos about popular topics like top 10 meanest dogs, 10 facts about the Vietnam war and so on. My channel was started up on June 18, 2022 with the normal setup such as channel name, banner, logo, playlists and more. Then I was making and uploading 1 video daily to get going.
This was going to be a huge challenge because to get qualified for monetization you must get 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time. Some people go a year or two to achieve this but I was motivated and had been researching how to accomplish it. I knew simply posting videos and hoping for visitors was not going to happen.
Plan of Attack
After posting each video, I used a service that legally promotes you video (by main keyword) for 4 days. They drive traffic to your videos from actual YouTubers and not bots. You will not receive credit for bots, they stink. Each video that was promoted gained roughly 20–30 new subscribers and good comments and likes as well.
To my astonishment, one of my videos was picked up by the YouTube algorithm and got over 20,000 views (see below). The channel was then of and running, more and more videos were gaining traction and the views started to climb.
Last week on September 20, 2022 my channel hit the magic goal of 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours watch time. I almost fainted that it happened so fast.
Only 4 months of hard work to get monetized and now the approval process by YouTube to get entered into their partner program and start making some ad revenue.
It only took them 3 days to send me my approval letter and off I went monetizing my videos. This is going to be fun making videos and seeing if real money can be made like these YouTubers were claiming. After 1 week, these are my results. Not much to brag about but it is a start and I look forward to growing my channel. Stay tuned for future updates!
My Key Takeaways
Most importantly you must learn SEO (Search Engine Optimization). After you’ve decided on a profitable niche, the next thing you’ll want to concentrate on is YouTube SEO. Viewers who are not currently subscribers can find your videos on YouTube in a variety of ways.
Suggested Videos — This is where YouTube suggests your video to people who are watching something similar. This how I grew so quickly.
YouTube Search Box — This is when a user enters a specific keyword or query into YouTube’s search box.
These are both significant ways for small YouTubers to increase the number of views on their videos. Make sure to place your keyword in the title.
My main reason for fast growth was by taking steps like these:
- Using VidIQ to get high volume, low competition keywords for easy rankings.
- Backlinking each video to get authority to your channel.
- Making top quality thumbnails.
- Sharing each video on social media accounts.
Conclusion
If I can do this anyone can. You just have to be willing to devote the time and effort to making and posting videos daily until you reach about 20 videos. This will give you plenty of content for people to view. That is the key, keeping viewers on your channel watching more of your videos. Thank you for reading my journey.
