How I Did After Joining the Medium Partner Program
Sharing my goals and thoughts
Hello everyone, let me start off by saying the reason for writing this is not to brag. I am only intending on sharing my experience with others to possibly give inspiration like I received after reading other successful writers on here. Let’s get started.
Let me start by saying these are not huge, impressive numbers bur something that motivates me to keep going and shoot for the stars. I joined the Medium Membership Program on April 3, 2022 after writing for about 6 months on the platform. Really not writing with any frequency at the beginning, my intention was to just use my marketing skills to promote.
I was not really getting any traction due to the fact that only being able to read 2 or 3 stories a month was not really giving me the information I needed to get more views. A round the beginning of April I made the choice to sign up for the Medium Partner Program because I really wanted to improve my writing skills and gain some exposure.
The Results After Joining
After taking the plunge and joining, things really started to move in the right direction for me. I began to see what people were interested in and also starting reading and commenting on lots of stories to share interests with other writers. This was helping my followers rise ( which was fantastic) and others were subscribing to receive my stories by email. This was all new and exciting to me and not to mention helping my earnings to rise.
Setting My First Goal
After getting excited watching my reads, views and earning increase every day, I decided to set my first goal. My goal would to get 100 views in a day. Therefore, on April 8, 2022 I wrote a story called “My First Goal On Medium Is 100 Views In a Day”.
Until then my most views in a day was on April 5 for 63 views. Then on April 7th I hit 85 views and low and behold on the day I published my story, I was able to hit my goal of 100 with 141 views.
My next goal that I hope to achieve is that $100 in a month earnings that lots of writers shoot for. I am excited to put out more stories to achieve this next goal and hope to hit in a couple of months.
My best earnings went from $3.34 in March to $33.35 in April after joining the Medium Partner Program. I am off to a good start in May but probably will not hit my goal yet. This is so much fun and motivating to be a part of.
How Things Have Changed
Some people may think this is all about the stats, but it’s not! After joining the Medium Partner Program and being able to read unlimited stories my attitude has changed. Now to me it is all about sharing stories and experiences with others.
I have really begun to enjoy writing a lot more and when others leave you a comment or you comment on their stories, it gives me a feeling of worth.
Sure it’s motivating to see your stats, views and earnings go up but I get more satisfaction with sharing and learning from others.
Call me crazy I guess! Like I said in the beginning, I didn’t write this to brag (because as you can see it’s nothing to brag about yet), this was just to share like many others before me were kind enough to do as well. That is where my motivation came from.
Final Thoughts
I appreciate you taking to to read my story and listen to me vent. One thing I can tell you is that my attitude has completely changed. What I mean by that is I have been marketing online for over 15 years, I have 5 blogs, numerous YouTube channels and many articles on other platforms like Quora and LinkedIn.
When I first started on Medium, I was writing reviews to promote products. But after being a member and reading tons of members stories, I learned that people on here don’t want to be sold something. They want to enjoy stories on the platform and not be directed off to somewhere else.
After changing my outlook on this platform, it has given me a whole new outlook. I would rather do research about something everyone is interested in reading as opposed to pushing a product. That is just my opinion and I mean no offense to anyone.
It has just inspired me to become a better writer instead of a salesman. I have other blogs for that. If my story has inspired you in any way, then I did what I came here to do. Thanks for reading.
