It always amazes me how many people don’t know how to use the features on the one device that they carry with them everywhere they go.

When you buy an iPhone, it’s easy to get lost in the bells and whistles that make up the majority of what you can do with your phone. But there are some hidden gems on your iPhone that will make your life easier if you know how to use them properly. Here are seven of those iPhone features you may not be using, but should be.

#1: Customize Your Do Not Disturb

If you’re like most people, you probably have your phone on Do Not Disturb more often than not. But did you know that you can customize this setting to better suit your needs? For example, you can set it to only allow calls from certain contacts or to allow repeat calls within three minutes. This is a great way to make sure you’re only getting the calls you really need.

#2: Use the Notes App

If you’re like most people, you probably only use the Notes app to jot down a quick thought or two. But the Notes app can do a lot more than that. Here are five ways you can use the Notes app to make your life easier.

  • Search text: Find an old note with ease by searching for keywords and phrases in the text of any note.
    * Quickly record: Press the red button on top of the screen to quickly start recording voice memos.
    * Translate texts: When writing an email in another language, translate it before sending it so that recipients know what you’re saying.
    * Screen Capture: Take a screenshot of anything displayed on your screen by pressing and holding both buttons at once — without touching any other buttons.
    * Store travel information: Keep hotel information and maps stored away in case of emergencies while traveling abroad.

#3: Control Your Power Source

Your iPhone has a lot of features that can help you control your power source. For example, you can dim your screen to save battery power, or use Low Power Mode to extend your battery life. You can also check your battery health to see if it needs to be replaced.

If you’re really in a bind, you can even use the Emergency SOS feature to call for help. So next time your phone runs low on juice, don’t panic! There are plenty of ways to get more power.

#4: Revive Old Phones

One of the most underused features of the iPhone is its ability to revive old phones. If you have an old phone that you no longer use, you can connect it to your iPhone and use it as a secondary device. This is great for making calls, sending texts, and checking email.

Plus, it’s a great way to keep your old phone alive and avoid having to buy a new one. To do this, simply go to Settings > Phone > Add a Device and follow the instructions.

#5: How to Re-Capture Memories with iOS 11 and AirDrop

If you’re anything like me, you take a ton of photos and videos on your iPhone. And while iCloud is great for freeing up space on your device, it’s not the best way to share those memories with friends and family. That’s where AirDrop comes in. With iOS 11, you can now re-capture memories by AirDropping them directly to your loved ones’ devices.

Here’s how to use AirDrop to share photos or videos:
1. Open Photos or any other app that has media content stored on your phone
2. Tap the Share button at the bottom right corner of the screen
3. Select AirDrop from the list of options
4. Choose who you want to send your media content
5. Hit Send when done

#6: Send Animojis in iMessage

You can record and send Animojis in iMessage! Animojis are 3D, animated emojis that use your voice and facial expressions.

To record and send an Animoji:
1. Open a new message or go to an existing conversation.
2. Tap the App Store icon next to the text field.
3. Tap the icon in the lower left corner that looks like four circles. This will open your list of installed iMessage apps.
4. Select the Animoji app.
5. Choose your emoji, then look into your iPhone and place your face inside the frame. Make sure there’s enough light so your face can be seen clearly.

#7: Adjust Font Sizes For Individual Apps

While some apps are better suited for large text sizes, you might prefer smaller text when using others. With iOS 15, you can now change the text size from app to app. Go to “Control Center” in Settings and add the “Text Size” option to the included controls. Then, to change the font size while using an app, swipe down to open Control Center, tap the “Text Size” icon, and adjust the size to your liking.

Final Thoughts

You’ve probably heard of a few of these, but how many do you use daily to boost your productivity? Hope this helps you out.
