10 Awesome Songs About Hope and Refusing to Give Up
Do you need a little inspiration sent your way?
The past year has been difficult, and we are still not out of the global COVID-19 disaster. Many people’s patience, compassion, and determination are wearing thin.
Music has helped generations before us reclaim their power during difficult times, and we can do the same. Today, we’re sharing a list of songs about hope that will restore your power and help you rise above your difficulties.
We can persevere a little bit longer. Humanity has been through a lot throughout history. This time it’s our turn, and we’ll get through it. I think we are strong enough.
Just try and visualize those obstacles you have disappearing around you as you listen to these songs on this list. Think about yourself strengthened and revitalized. All you have to do is believe in hope and change.
Here are my 10 favorite songs about hope and inspiration. Enjoy!
#1: Lean on Me by Bill Withers
It’s comforting to know that someone is looking out for us when we’re feeling overwhelmed. This Bill Withers classic is a comforting reminder that if we have that one friend we can lean on, everything will be fine.
“Lean on me when you’re not strong. And I’ll be your friend. I’ll help you carry on. For it won’t be long ’til I’m gonna need somebody to lean on.”
#2: When We Stand Together by Nickelback
Difficulties in our lives are sometimes caused by rifts in our relationships with others. When we allow things to fester, the quality of our lives suffers.
However, there is always the possibility of reconciliation. This song suggests a way to repair the harm done by conflict: we must all work together to achieve peace. This peace can bring the much-needed hope to the world.
“Hey, yeah, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah. We must stand together… There’s no giving in. Hey, yeah, yeah, hey, yeah. A hand in hand forever… That’s when we all win.”
#3: Hang in Long Enough by Phil Collins
When we work hard to achieve our goals, obstacles inevitably arise to put our resolve to the test. These challenges can seem endless at times. We start to believe there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
It is at this point that we must strengthen our resolve to keep trying. Hold on, because things will get better in the end.
“You never thought you’d ever get the chance. You never thought your break would come along. If you tell me what you want, I’ll find the key. Just reach out and touch it’s all yours if you hang in.”
#4: Heal the World by Michael Jackson
This song serves as a reminder that humans are responsible for the state of our planet. To instill hope in others, we must embrace practices that nurture rather than destroy. We must begin to see others not as separate entities, but as members of our global family.
“Heal the world. Make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race.”
#5: You Are Loved (Don’t Give Up) by Josh Groban
Regardless of your religious or spiritual beliefs, listening to this song will lift your spirits. The song provides reassurance that, no matter how lost or hopeless you may feel, if there is someone who loves you, it is worth every effort to overcome life’s challenges.
“Don’t give up because you want to burn bright. If darkness blinds you I, I will shine to guide you.”
#6: Rain on Me by Lady Gaga featuring Ariana Grande
Rain on Me is a beautiful tribute to overcoming adversity, not giving up, and emerging stronger. This energizing dance song is all about accepting life, flaws and all. Rain is referred to as tears in figurative language.
“I’d rather be dry, but at least I’m alive.”
#7: Don’t Stop Believin by Journey
This classic 1981 hit is a must-have for any list of songs about not giving up. In fact, one New York hospital is using the song to commemorate the release of COVID-19 patients.
‘Some’ll win, some will lose Some are born to sing the blues. Whoa, the movie never ends, It goes on and on and on and on”
#8: Fight Song by Rachel Platten
Rachel Platten’s 2015 hit is a song about tenacity and is perhaps best known as an anthem for numerous charitable causes. The song, which has a catchy chorus and a powerful message, encourages listeners to not only sing along to the anthem but to take the lyrics to heart when dealing with their own struggles.
“And I don’t really care if nobody else believes ’Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me”
#9: I’m Still Standing by Elton John
A song about surviving all of life’s difficulties without collapsing, it’s a song that not only acknowledges that tough times occur, but also celebrates the fact that those who survive come out stronger.
“Don’t you know I’m still standing better than I ever did? Looking like a true survivor, feeling like a little kid And I’m still standing after all this time. Picking up the pieces of my life without you on my mind”
#10: It’s My Life by Bon Jovi
This single from Bon Jovi’s Crush album from 2000 is an anthem for those who want to do things their own way. It’s a great song for those who want to take a stand, not just against obstacles but also against critics.
“It’s my life, It’s now or never, But I ain’t gonna live forever, I just want to live while I’m alive”
